As mentioned last week, McDonald's set up an auction for the prop used in their Super Bowl commercials about a husband and wife that found a french fry which looked like Abraham Lincoln. In the commercial, made to look like a documentary, the couple decided to put the french fry up for auction.
McDonald's set up a website devoted to the commercial as well as having a link to a real online auction for the ficticious fry that closed on Saturday, February 12, 2005, Lincoln's birthday.
All the money from the auctioned fry would be donated to the Ronald McDonald House charity. Interestingly, the buyer cannot claim a tax deduction.
The winning bid was $75,100. At one point, bidding was up to $101,300.
