Marines Change Uniform Code

While it may not be as big an issue, or as noticeable, as when the Army switched to berets for headwear, the Marines have changed the required uniform to wear when delivering death notices to families. Instead of the Dress Blue uniform, they will wear the Service "A" uniform.

While not as sharp as the Dress Blues, the Service "A"s are very nice looking as well.

Some people have reported seeing the men and women in the dress blues and automatically thinking they were delivering tragic news. Thus, the decision to require use of the Service "A" uniforms for these duties instead.

Really, there isn't a winner in this decision but the thinking was probably that the Dress Blues are worn at ceremonial functions, such as a funeral, so this is a good compromise.

Here are the uniforms in question.
